1944 - 2010
Monzola Adkins, 66, of Huntington, WV, passed from earth to her eternal heavenly home on February 10, 2010. She was born February 5, 1944, in Kaishville, WV, a daughter of Shirley Frasier Dyer of Huntington and the late Ted Dyer. She married Robert Lee Adkins on March 4, 1960, and would have been married 50 years in 22 days. She was part owner of Robert L. Adkins and Sons, Contractors, Inc., serving the business as Secretary and treasurer. Her first and foremost love was being a wife, mother and homemaker. She is survived by two sons, Keith E. and wife Robin K. Adkins, and Jeffrey D. and wife Earlene Adkins; four grandchildren, Robert Seth and wife Sarah E. Adkins, Emily Beth Adkins, Kaylin Adkins and Hannah Adkins; one great grandchild, Grady Cole Adkins the G-man, all of Huntington; one brother, Dannie Dyer and wife Mary of Prichard. Monzola was instrumental in the development of Green Valley Heights Subdivision and numerous custom built homes throughout the Tri-State area. Monzola loved working in her flower garden, sewing and baking. Above all, she loved being Mamaw Ona. She was a member of Bowen Ridge Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Steve Zickefoose, Mike Ashworth, Carl Runyon Jr., Brett Wellman, Jim Chapman, Dr. George McKay, Paul Fields and Ronnie Ellis. The family would like to thank Steve and Jan Zickefoose, Mike and Dee Ashworth, Robert and Dorothy Collins and a very special friend of the family Brenda Peewee Chapman, Dr. George McKay and wife Kathy and Dr. Rebecca Wolfer for all their expertise and compassion. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. The Rev. Jesse Lacy and Rev. Eugene Houck will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2010, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Burial will follow in Bowen Cemetery. My deepest sympathy to all of your family. I remember Monzola from way back during my brothers Little League days. Our families sure did do alot for the kids back then. I lost my father Robert on July 29th. May God Bless you all.

I would like to express my sympathy to Shirley and all her family. I grew up in Wayne County and knew her parents but did not know Monzola well. My heart goes out to her family for loosing her at such a young age
