Dear Bill and Jamie, I am so very saddened to hear about Drew. I was in town this weekend visiting at the hospital and that's when I found out that Drew had passed... There are some things in life that I don't think I will ever understand and this is one. Please know I think about Drew and you all often! I will never forget his smiling face and how he made me laugh.. Every time Carson wears his Steelers jersey you all got him you guys cross my mind.. You all are such a strong and wonderful family! I just wanted you to know I will never forget Drew or all the days we spent at the hospital teasing each other about football and which team was best:) I can only imagine the pain you all feel right now but if there is ever anything I can do please let me know.. All my prayers are with you and your family! Love Lindsey and Carson Rice

To The Family of Drew Powers: As the mother of a son myself, my heart broke when I read Drew's obituary in the paper today. I have never met your family and actually live out-of-state, but I felt so compelled to reach out none the less. There are no words that can comfort your broken hearts at the moment. This I know from experience. But I also know that God will show Himself faithful to you through the love and prayers of those around you. His promise to be our perfect strength when we are weak is a promise that will never fail. I haven't any doubt that your precious son has been ushered into the peaceful presence of Jesus Christ. In His Unfailing Grace- A Mother of a son

"Precious, Precious Child" Glory be to God on High for sending a precious child to you, for he had a smile like none other, that brightened and mirrored a happy heart; you had to be so proud to be his mother. He was so very young when his health problems began; yet, being the real trooper that he was, he fought each day, to gain decent health and to live as much as possible; As his father, I'm sure you cherished him and loved him so along the way. Your "precious, precious child" Drew was prayed for by many, for faith in God is a must; He is our Good Source and Strength through all things; And in Him and His Infinite Wisdom is where we place our trust. I pray that your "precious, precious child" is now resting, in the Loving Arms of our Savior, protected from all further pain; That he's smiling down upon you with eternal love; and that he's sending you daily kisses and hugs from Heaven that will ease your unbearable suffering and that God's comfort you will eventually gain. A friend by prayer (I'm praying that you will find peace by leaning on the Everlasting Arms of Jesus Christ)

The Powers and Lawson Families, all our love and prayers are going out to you in this time of unbelievable sorrow. Your baby Drew is such handsome little man. It is beyond all reason why such precious little babies have to endure so much pain and suffering. I hope that knowing he is no longer in pain and being cared for by our Lord is of some comfort to you right now. Having had a very young child with cancer, I understand some of what your entire family has endured. It is amazing the strength these little heroes possess and how it makes your love for them even stronger. He may have only been on this Earth for a short time, but he has touched so many lives and that will last a lifetime.

We are deeply saddened by your loss. Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Remember this special verse: Psalm 34:18 "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." May every breeze that grazes your cheek be a sweet kiss from your precious Drew.
