Ronnie Dale "RD", I am so sorry about your Dad. I didn't know anything till I saw this in the paper. I had never even heard he was sick. He was such a nice man. You know he was friends with my grandmother. Several years ago, I told him who I was and that I was the one that came over with Sharon. He couldn't believe it, that I was Hazel's grand daughter. When your cousin Bob passed away, I came to the service. I saw your Dad and when he found out I was there alone, he had me come sit with your family during the service. That was so nice of him and I've never forgot it. I am so sorry I was not there for his service. I see you still live away from here. I would have liked to see you in person. Write me if you would like to talk. Take care of yourself. Your friend, Sherry

To the family of Ronnie Dale Ferrell... My family was very sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one.We know without question that Ronnie Dale was a good, fine, outstanding man. And as told by his friends in the Memory Messages. My brother,Wm. Bailey Jr. died of Cancer on the 19th Dec. 2003,(a date to remember)he was 52, and we miss him terribly. I happen to buy The Herald-Dispatch and saw the Obit of Ronnie Dale Ferrell. I've been checking into our "Ancestry" and really happy to know we have kin on my Father's side (Ferrell) close by. Oscar Fenton Ferrel-Ronnie's Dad was my Dad's Uncle. My Grandmother Lucy Mae Ferrell Bailey was Oscar's sister. Would love to know more of our kin family. My mother (almost 81) has spoken of Oscar Fenton so much and looking at Photo's,she trys to remember..She has told lil' stories of how good and a caring man he was, sounds like Ronnie was just like his Dad...Please be in touch...Take Care and God Bless....The Bailey's-Ida Bell, Janie, Jeannie, and Betty...

God speed old friend. You were my first training officer and I remember most of the lessons you taught. I called on you words many times over the thirty year career. Thanks for allowing me to call you a friend.

First of all I would like to express my sincere condolences to Cathy, Ronnie Dale and Beth. I know Ronnie would be very proud of you for the love and compassion you showed in his final days. Sometimes I think maybe God called Ronnie home a little early in life to have someone to use as a measuring stick as to what a real man really is. You can read his obituary and tell that he had part in it for there is no mention of the many, many good things he did in life for other people. Thats just how he was. It is a true honor to call him my friend. I truly loved Ronnie for who he was and what he stood for and want all of you to know, as Im sure you do, that he touched many lives for the good, one of them being mine. If there is ever anything I can do for you, please let me know. Keep in touch, Brian

I am sorry to read about your family lost. Ron became a friend to my brother Don Thomas during his battle with cancer. I lost him this past June. I met Ron in Huntington during a ceremony dedicating a bridge to a Vietnam Veteran. I know that he is already in heaven with my brother discussing the good times ahead for them. God Bless David Thomas, Mauldin, SC

I have known Ronnie a very short time but it is my opinion he was a caring and generous person. Ron and I with others are working on a Medal of Honor upgrade for Jackie Waymire. He loved veterans and tryed to do all he could to have them recognized in his home town. He cared very deeply about his town and neighbors and especially his grandchildren. Barboursville you have lost a fine citizen. He is now at peace with our Lord and his family and I am sure Jackie is happy to see him. I will never forget a good friend. May God Bless him family.

1946-2009 That dash represents all the time he spent alive on earth and now only those who loved him know what that little line is worth, what matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash. Our prayers are with the family of Ronnie D Ferrell
