James "Jim" A. Cava, of Huntington, born March 24, 1960, passed away November 22, 2024 at the age of 64 with his family by his side. Jim was an avid sports photographer and boxing coach. He loved campfires and telling stories. He had a positive impact on kids throughout his life through youth activities and coaching. Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 45 years, Tammy Call Cava, two sons, Alexander (Mary) Cava, Jimmy (Janet) Cava and four grandchildren he adored and spoiled, J. T., Jack, Zac and Juliet Cava. He is also survived by one aunt, Linda Mahaffey, siblings, Glenna, Erma, Eddie, Lois, Bruce, Lila and Anna. Also special to Jim were Polly Tiller, Mollie Bannister and Alaya Mitchell as well as countless other beloved family members and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2024 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Jim Butcher. Me and my family are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Jim. He was always a fun guy to be around and he was like family to my family. Wish we could be at funeral but we are many miles away out of town on the holiday season. Jim to me was a teacher, a coach and a good friend.
