Arlene Marion MarteniesArlene Marion Martenies at the age of 78 of Kerrville passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 05, 2009 in a local hospital. She was born on Jan. 30, 1931 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Joseph and Jennie Musser. Arlene has resided in Kerrville for the past twenty six years, she was a nurse's aide at the State Hospital and then retired several years ago. One of her greatest joys in life was Christmas, this was not only her favorite holiday, it was the time in her life she loved the most, the time to give unto others. Arlene would keep her house fully decorated with Christmas lights and garland all year around. Her joy in her life was her family, and she loved having pictures of her family around her at all times. Arlene loved to play bingo and she was a very active player in the community and out of the state of Texas. May God bless her on her journey to be with God.

Arlene is survived by her 3 sons John Adams of Kerrville whom she reside with until her passing, Steven Sheppard and wife Nancy of Missouri, and Butch Martenies and wife Deb of Lansing, Michigan; 2 daughters Marilyn Segal and husband Wayne of Dimondale, Michigan and Debra Martenies of Ohio; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and many other family members and friends who love her will miss her.

Upon Arlene's request their will be a private memorial and then her cremains will be put in areas of Hawaii at a later date.

Well grandma, Now you can be in the kitchen with me at all times while i teach your name sake how to cook just like you. Cheya already loves to play the lottery scratch offs like her great grandma we love and miss you very much. Tell Don Hoe we said hi and to save us a spot in heaven to watch you and him dance on the clouds Cheya and I love you very much see you soon.

Mom, I can't believe your gone and we all Love and Miss you so much. I am so sorry I couldn't be there with you. Life will never be the same with you gone. Your laughter and your cooking and how you spoke your mind about anyone who crossed you. It is so hard just thinking of you not being with us. You were always there for everyone. I love you
