
Virginia L. Parsons, widow of James H. Parsons, passed away on December 5, 2025. Virginia was born June 9, 1944, at Lenore, WV. She was the daughter of the late John Smith Baisden and Frankie Evans Baisden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Clayton S. Baisden, Harley Gerald Baisden, Olin Gregory Baisden, and Bill Baisden and sisters, Christine Whitt, Ivadenne Hatfield, and Waville Dempsey. In earlier years, Virginia worked for Island Creek Coal Company in Mingo County and Avon Laboratories in Chicago. Upon moving to Huntington, later Barboursville, she attended Marshall University where she obtained a Masters plus 98 hours. Her career with Cabell County Schools spanned 34 years. She was a teacher and later Principal at Cammack Elementary and retired in 2009 as Principal at Barboursville Elementary. During her career, she received many awards, grants and honors, and was recognized by former Gov. Gaston Caperton as a Distinguished West Virginian for outstanding achievements and dedication to children and education. Virginia is survived by her loving daughter, Karen Parsons-Koerner; loving grandson, Caleb Koerner; sister, Eunice Ford of Columbus, OH; and brother Guy Emerson (Karen) Baisden of Greenville, SC. Virginia was loved by her siblings, as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wallace Funeral Home in Barboursville. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Dr. Tim Yates of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church, where Virginia was a member, will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington.
