Edith Underwood

Georgia Edith Burchett Underwood, 85, of Greenup, Ky., died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at her son's residence, Byron Duane Underwood, in Danville, KY.
Mrs. Underwood was born June 3, 1917, in Smokey Valley in Carter County, Ky., a daughter of the late George Watt and Susan Rebecca Cox Burchett.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest B. Underwood, on Nov. 16, 1968; three brothers, Homer Burchett, Robert Burchett and Raymond Burchett; and three sisters, Marjorie Ward, Nina Vanhoose, and Alice Darnell.
She was a retired clerk with the Greenup County sheriff's office, a graduate of Greenup Independent High School and a Charter Member of the Greenup First Baptist Church.
Additional survivors include a brother, Herbert Burchett of Melrose, Ky.; two sisters, Clara Parker of Russell, Ky., and Norma Carter of Lloyd, Ky.; two grandsons, Michael Underwood of Danville and Zachary Underwood of Lexington, Ky.; five granddaughters, Vicki Wireman of Lloyd, Susan Bowman of Flatwoods, Jessica Underwood and Ashley Underwood, both of Greenup, and Mattie Underwood of Danville; and two great-grandsons, Christian Wireman and Collier Wireman.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at Wright's Funeral Home in Greenup by Tom Melvin.
Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
