Mr. Forrest Denver Johnson, Sr., age 84, of 129 Broadway St., Bremen passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2006. Mr. Johnson was born in Cleburne County, Alabama on January 15, 1922. He was the son of the late Henry Floyd Johnson and the late Maggie Easterwood Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He owned and operated Johnson’s Barber Shop in downtown Bremen for many years where he cut hair up until last Saturday. Mr. Johnson also served for 37 years as the pastor of Ebenezer Methodist Church. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Forrest Denver Johnson, Jr.; one sister, Betty Thweatt; and two brothers, Hoyt Johnson and H.N. Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Turner Johnson of Bremen; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Joe Couch of Bremen; one brother, Roy M. Johnson of Columbus; one grandchild, Christina D. Couch of Villa Rica; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. from West Georgia Worship Center with Rev. Ricky Shirley and Rev. Garvin Sellers officiating. Music will be rendered by Harold McWhorter and Christina D. Couch. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
