Mrs. Mattie Lou Davis Gentry, age 93, of 5246 Hwy. 120 East, Buchanan passed away Saturday, August 12, 2006. Mrs. Gentry was born in Haralson County on January 5, 1913. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin Davis and the late Agnes Dooley Davis. Mrs. Gentry was a retired elementary school teacher with the Haralson County Board of Education. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.S. “Bill” Gentry; sisters, Alice Swann and Ann Seagars; brothers, U.C. “Preach” Davis, Jim Davis, Butler Davis, J.B. Davis and George Davis.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Buddy and Joan Gentry of Buchanan and Freddy and Sherry Gentry of Buchanan; six grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. from the Baptist Tabernacle with Rev. Buddy Gentry officiating. Music will be rendered by Brian Ridley. Interment will follow in the Baptist Tabernacle Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Scott Gentry, Toddy Gentry, Brian Ridley, Dale Turner, Buddy Badgett and William Harris. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Joshua Green, Jacob Green, Matt Gentry, Avery Gentry, Brandon Jarrell, Brendon Ridley, Kalen Gentry, Will Gentry, Michael Bearden, Caleb Turner, Skyler Jarrell and Preston Jarrell.
Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
