Mr. J.E. Pollard, age 72, of 589 High Point Rd., Buchanan passed away Sunday, November 19, 2006. Mr. Pollard was born in Haralson County on April 19, 1934. He was the son of the late Gene Pollard and the late Ola Mae Hartley Pollard. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Mae Pollard and one son, Johnny Pollard.
Survivors include nine daughters, Nellie Jean Gordon of Buchanan, Sherry Jeffers of Buchanan, Betty Holcombe of Tallapoosa, Brenda Harper of Tallapoosa, Sandra Truitt of Tallapoosa, Virginia Howard of Deer Lodge, TN, Helen Dewberry of Temple, Cindy Pollard of Buchanan and Sandy Pollard of Buchanan; three sisters, Magdelene Melear of Buchanan, Carol Welchel of Buchanan and Sandra “Peggy” Pollard of Bremen; two brothers, Donald Pollard of Buchanan and Sam Pollard of Buchanan; eighteen grandchildren, Michael Gatlin, Charlie Gatlin, Tony Gatlin, Brandy Gatlin, Phillip Kelly, Kaye Kelly, Tina Gatlin, Rebecca Summerville, Barbara Summerville, Misty Odgen, Chris Williams, Melissa Williams, Beulah Lee Kilgore, Tammy Freels, Kevin Dewberry, Jessica Dewberry, Carey Mayhood and Josh Dewberry; and a number of great grandchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. from Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Johnnie Carden and Danny Hutcheson officiating. Music will be rendered by Rev. Buddy Gentry. Interment will follow in the Buchanan City Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Thurman Brown, Gene Brown, Harold Mathis, Thomas Jeffers, Rodney Summerville, Wallace Cook and David Agans. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be John Adams.
Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
