1934 - 2008

Olivia Cessor Vines, the youngest of four children born to the late Virgie Hayden Caul and Fitch Cessor in Huntington, West Virginia on November 30, 1934. Olivia was a lifelong resident of Huntington, West Virginia where she was educated at Barnett Elementary and Douglas High School. Affectionately nicknamed Cootie, she was a dedicated member of Young Chapel AME Church for over fifty years. Cootie was active in the Lay organization and sang in the Liberation Gospel Choir, She was faithful in the service of God. Olivia enjoyed her affiliation with Evergreen Chapter #43 Order of the Eastern Star, where she grew in faith and sisterhood. Cootie was a loving mother who dedicated her life to her home and raising her children. Although she had four children of her own, she always found time for others and was always willing to help in any way she could. She was a home provider for over 25 years for the Fox Family and later became a child care provider allowing her to touch the lives of her other children providing them the love and affection she shared with her natural children. Her personality and loving heart reached out like a magnet leaving a lasting impression. Her door was always to listen, talk or just hold your heart and hand in hers. So many things to so many people. So if you knew her as Momma, NeMaw, Granny, Cottie or Olivia, you knew that you were loved and mattered in her life. On Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at 3:40PM Cootie went to join her husband of 38 years, Roosevelt Sonny Vines, son Charles Deering, Jr. and three brothers Earskel & Everett Caul and Charles Cessor. Left to cherish all the wonderful memories are her daughters, Dovanette Derring Parker of Cincinnatti, Ohio, Stacy Vines of Huntington, son Franklin (Linda) Deering of Huntington, son-in-law John Parker, Cincinnatti, 6 grandchildren, Todd Benners, Tywanna Deering, Shetawn Deering, Charletta Deering, sean Parker & Renee Vines, and 5 great-grandchildren, one God-daughter Jasmine Johnson, cousin Irene Murrell, 2 devoted sisters-in-law Mary Caul and Gloria Deering and many special nieces, nephews & cousins and a host of wonderful, wonderful friends. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalms 73:26. Service will be 1:00PM Saturday, January 12, 2008 at the young Chapel AME Church, with the Reverend Angela Walker, officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 7:00-9:00PM at the church.

Dear Davvie and Frankie, I read that your beautiful mother had passed. I didn't have the good fortune of knowing your mother before she became ill and I entered hers and your lives;I could tell how loved and respected she was by not only your actions but the numerous cards and vistors. I am sure your mother is at peace and I hope you and your family are doing well during this time. I am glad I had the pleasure of meeting you all and getting to know you. Peace be with you. Dovie, Frankie, Stacey & Family, Aunt Cootie taught us all, by example. I empathize your loss, her greatest example was how to be a Mother. I am honored to have known such a strong and wonderful woman. I find comfort now, as I hope you might, in knowing a host of friends and relatives gone before, were there to meet her in Heaven. May God see you all through this dark hour, and lead you to the strength your Mama instilled in each of you. My deepest sympathies and love always, Missi
