Paul passed away Tuesday evening, Dec. 7, 2010 at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born Nov. 25, 1932 in Kalamazoo the son of the late William P. and Suzanne (VandenBos) Hiemstra. Paul was a contractor/mason until his retirement. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Paw Paw and enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering with small engines and caring for his pets. On Oct. 19, 1956 in St. Joseph, MI Paul was united in marriage to Loretta Klug who survives. Also surviving are 3 children, Dawn (Thomas) Blum of Lawrence, Laura J Hiemstra of Hartford, and Candace J. (Dirk) VanGalder of Holland; 6 grandchildren, Nichole (Ben) Weststrote and their son, Brenan, Derek (Amy) VanGalder and their son, Morrison, Steven Blum, Brandon, Bryan and Craig VanGalder; sister, Katherine (Leonard) Ekema of Kalamazoo; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Paw Paw where a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. with Rev. Mark Whittaker officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Southwest Michigan, 6955 West "KL" Ave, Kalamazoo, MI. 49009). Arrangements are by the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw. |
