William J. "Bill" Fields, 73, of Ashland, died peacefully Saturday morning, Dec. 2, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center.
He was born April 14, 1944, in Perry County, a son of the late Raymond A. Fields Sr., and Arbutus Farler Fields.
Bill was former co-owner and operator of Steen Funeral Homes. He was a 1964 graduate of Kentucky School of Mortuary Science and devoted over 50 years of service to the Ashland Community. He was a member of Ashland Elks Lodge 350 B.P.O.E. and Ashland Area Business Boosters. He formerly served on the board of directors for the American Red Cross Boyd County Chapter and Ashland Cemetery.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Pebble Kiser Fields of Ashland; three sons, Brad Fields and wife Julie of Danville, Jason Fields of Morehead and Michael Fields of Louisville; two brothers, Raymond A. Fields Jr. of Husser, La., and Thomas J. Fields of Bulan; three granddaughters, Maddie Fields, Emma Fields and Katelyn Fields of Danville.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel with The Reverend Dr. Isaac W. Nicholson officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, at the funeral home.
