Ralph M. Smith, 90, of Ashland, passed away Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, in Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Ralph was born Oct. 14, 1927, in Pike County, a son of the late Arthur and Virdie Buskirk Smith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Brown Smith.
Ralph was of the Baptist faith and attended several area churches over the years.
He was a 1946 Graduate of Ashland Senior High School. He continued his education at Ashland Junior College graduating in 1950 and then on to Marshall College (University) completing his bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1961 with a major in Accounting and minor in Economics. He worked in the Accounting department at Armco Steel for many years and ran several businesses in the Ashland area including Suburban Mobile Home Park.
Ralph served his country proudly during World War II in the U.S. Marines.
Ralph is survived by several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel by Pastor James E. Pridemore. Burial with full military rites will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
