He was born June 7, 1952 in Paw Paw, the son of Clarence W. and Anne (Taylor) Coombs Sr. Buggs was a gifted singer/songwriter who touched people around the world with his music. He started playing the guitar at age 12 and started his first band the next year. He was also employed by the Grand Trunk Railroad for 18 years and bartended at the Old Hat Brewery for 7 years. On June 24, 2003 in Las Vegas, NV, Buggs and Mary Willard were married by Elvis. He is survived by his wife, Mary Willard-Coombs and 4 children; Marie (Charlie) MacDonald of Union City, Tequisha Coombs of Paw Paw, Sarah (Justin) Gregory of Marietta, OH and Kerri Royer of Ferndale; 2 grandchildren, Jacob and Alexys; mother, Anne Coombs of Lawton; 5 sisters, Patti Haas, Barbara Coombs, Susan (Mike) Woodruff, Gail Coombs and Kathy Coombs all of Lawton; many nieces, nephews and cousins that he loved dearly; and his dogs, Harlee, Daisy and Ringo. We will miss our old friend every day. we are so glad for that magical last night at the Old Hat. I am sure that Lisa will carry the advice that Buggs gave her with her always. It was like no one wanted the night to end; and as long as we have our memories, it never will.

I'm so grateful to Buggs for his friendship with my son Scott. He helped him after his dad (Joe Mcmullen) died. He even dedicated a CD to Joe.Whenever Scott comes home for a visit he always visits his friends at Old Hat. He saw Buggs recently and will treasure the memory. Sincerely, Judy McMullen

We are just blessed that you (Chicken, Scotty, Johnny and Marty and you) all got to make that last CD together. You're in our minds and our hearts and you will never be forgotten. With heart felt sympathies I offer my condolences on Buggs passing. Who would have thought when people of my age leave this plain so early, its a tragedy. But I'm sure he's up there with Elvis, Buddy and the rest of his heroes jamming away. So sorry to hear about this. Mik

Buggs was soooo awesomely cool...he always made me laugh with his quietly irreverant humor. Never heard a cross word from him. Always will be in our hearts...too young to go, to awesome to stay. He'll be sorely missed. I'm so sorry to have not known him better.

Doug and I are so terribly sad to lose a friend like Buggs. His passing is going to leave a huge hole in so many people's lives. We are very grateful to have had the opportunity to know him, and we have so many good memories to hold. Our hearts go out to Mary and to family and to all the others who, like us, will go on without him; better for having known him but sad now in his absence. We're wishing for peace and comfort for all of us as time goes on. Sue Weaver and Doug Beckman

Sorry to hear about Buggs passing. We went to school all the way through together. Lawton was a wonderful place to grow up. Around second grade we drew picture after picture of Semi trucks. Buggs knew the details because of Clarence Sr. truck. Around 5th grade there was a tallent show in the all-purpose room where Buggs got Tom Wilcox, myself and one other person and we pretended to be the Beatles. Grants sold Beatle wig's and we thought we were cool. That maybe when Buggs fell in love with the stage. We also share the same birth date. I got to see Bugg's at our 20 class reunion and thats where I heard he was still playing music. He will be missed. May God comfort you during this difficult time. Sincerely, John Root
