This message is a little late as I travel often for the Department of Veterans Affairs here in Richmond, Virginia where I live but it is never too late to say "Good Bye" to a long time family friend of the M.H. Grimes Family at 3714 Blue Sulphur Road, Ona, WV. Melvin Clark was a very respected friend of our family. He dozed the dirt around our home in 1958 when the home was first built. My Mother, Lurlene Cummings Grimes who stills lives in our family home, was a fellow employee of the late Roberta Clark at the C& O Railway when it was on 11th Street and 4th Avenue. The Clarks were frequent visitors at our home in the early 1960's. Just recently my Mother had a leak in the basement wall on the front side of the home place. As the men were digging up the dirt in front of the home that Melvin had dozed, she saw a man watching the work and wondered who he was. When she went to see who was holding up the men from working, it was Melvin. She just hadn't recognized his face with a cap on. She is 79 years old herself. The men were astonished that he had stopped to see what was going on and told them he pushed the dirt against the basement wall where they were working. It was divine intervention from God! It was the last time my Mother saw Melvin alive and she told me about this encounter shortly after he stopped by. Little did she know that it would be her last while he was alive. Our family sends its deepest condolences to the surviving Clark family . We will never forget him or Roberta. They were truly friends of my Dad and Mom, even though the years had reduced their visits together. God Bless Him and we look forward to seeing them in Heaven. It will be great! To all that read this message, I beg of you to get saved and know our Lord. Your life will be blessed all the days of your life! So long Melvin. May you rest in eternal peace...

Mr. Clark was such a sweet man. I hate to hear that he passed away. My husband and I and our children would see him out a lot and speak with him in the summers. He had lots of stories to tell and we enjoyed listening. He cleared a large path for us to take our child to Ona Elem. on our golf cart. He was so thoughtful. He then got his own golf cart and we would all be out riding around on the hill. He will be greatly missed.
