Ishmeal Whitt, 82, of Barboursville, WV went to be with his Lord, Monday, October 2, 2006 in Huntington, WV. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by Pastor Tracy Mills. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Ishmeal was born April 27, 1924 at Chapmanville in Logan County, West Virginia to Donna Hensley Whitt and Noah Whitt. He was raised in Crawley Creek near Chapmanville and attended school in Huntington in later years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII fighting in the Pacific. After being in the Marines, he attended East High School’s Trade School becoming a machinist. He worked for Terrell Tool & Die, Terrell Industries and Trans Fab retiring in 1994. He was a former deacon and Sunday School teacher at the Guyandotte Baptist Church and later a former member of the Pea Ridge Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Ann Dyer Whitt and a brother, John Whitt of Columbus, OH. He is survived by a daughter, Dorinda Fisher of Milton; one son, Alan Whitt and his wife, Linda of Bremerton, Washington; six grandchildren, Candace Sweeney and her husband, Tom, Rachel Wisuri and her husband, Steve, Michele Whitt, Julie Smith Stephanie Fisher, and Ashley Ford; and ten great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2006 at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Family requests that memorial gifts be given to Hospice of Huntington, Box 464, Huntington, WV 25709. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard.
