Roger O’Neil Morris, 84, of Barboursville, left his family and went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, November 21, 2006. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, November 25, 2006 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by the Rev. Greg Dalton. Burial will be Ridgelawn Memorial Park with Masonic and Military rites. He was born October 9, 1922 in Huntington, a son of the late Gilmer Staten Morris and Grace McComas Morris. He was also preceded in death by a brother whom he shared the same birthday with, Albert Morris and one sister, Lenore Gunnoe. He was a Marshall University graduate from the School of Journalism , a veteran of the US Marines serving in World War II and was a member of Zion Lodge No. 1 F. & A.M., Detroit, Michigan. He is survived by the love of his life for sixty years, his wife, Alice Leah Justice Morris; one daughter, Marilyn Lee of Barboursville; one son, Roger O’Neil Morris Jr and his wife Marilyn of Sylvan Lake, Michigan; one sister, Lyda Mae Goan of Ocala, Florida; two brothers, Gilmer Staten Morris of Lakeview, Arkansas and Karl Dexter Morris of Culloden, WV; four grandchildren, Michelle McIntyre and her husband Perry, Marni Siew, Michael RyanCato and Ronald W. Hungerford; two great grandchildren, Ashley Siew, and Alice McIntyre; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 7-8 P.M. Friday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. The family would like to give a special thanks to his caregivers, Wilma, Linda, Jan, Rayetta, Sherry and to the Staff and volunteers of Hospice of Huntington.

Although I have many fond memories of my brother Roger, one of my favorites is when he used to come home from college on weekends and play the Spanish guitar and sing in latin on our front porch. Alice, you were a good wife and mother to his children and I know how much you will miss him dear. May God bless you all.
