Arlie Vernon “Bill” Ball, 88, of Milton passed away Monday, April 9, 2007 in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2007 at Good Hope Baptist Church, Kilgore Creek, Milton, with the Pastor James Jobe officiating. Burial will follow in Ball Family Cemetery, Kilgore Creek, Milton. He was born December 7, 1918, in Milton, a son of the late Otta and Fannie Nicholas Ball. He worked for Bischoff Glass for 43 years and retired from Slone Glass. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mildred Woodard Ball and one son Robert. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Cecil, Elmer, and Hubert; one sister, Leona Vititoe. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Judy Ball of Milton; one daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Kenney Chastain of Milton; seven grandchildren, whom he adored, Chris Ball and wife Linda, Robin Ball, Angie McKinney and husband Artie, Derek Ball and girlfriend Mary Chapman, Timmy Chastain and girlfriend Jonie, Jonathan “Mikey” Chastain and wife Alexis, Jason Chastain and girlfriend Hannah; five great-grandchildren, Brandon Elkins, Curtis Ball, Cameron McKinney, Jaelyn McKinney, and Destiny Smith; one brother, Raymond “Doc” Ball; two sisters, Opal Wooten and Delsie Neal; and a very special friend, Harold Goodall. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, and after 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Bill was a father of my friend Marsha father in law to my good friend Kenney. He was also a friend of mine. He wll be missed by his family and friends who he also treated as family.Bob Quinn
