JOHN B. MCCAFFREY, JR. of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Huntington & Ona, WV., passed away June 3, 2007, at the Leesburg Regional Medical Center in Leesburg, Florida. John was born September 15, 1939 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late John B. McCaffrey Sr. and Mary Mankin McCaffrey. John attended Marshall High School and Huntington High School where he played basketball and baseball at both schools and graduated in 1959, and then he attended Marshall University. John was a member of the Enslow Park Presbyterian Church. He worked at H.K. Porter until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1963 to 1965, serving in Korea with the Signal Corp, after which he retired from H.K. Porter in 1969. John was preceded in death by a well-loved brother William Michael McCaffrey and a special aunt Martha Mankin. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joyce Moore McCaffrey; a nephew, John Michael McCaffrey and his wife Jane, and their six children, of Grove City, OH; and a cousin Cheryl Mankin of Houston, TX. John will always be remembered as being very well liked and an active leader in the drag racing world around Huntington and a member of The Tri-State Car Club of Huntington. Upon moving to The Villages in 2003, John and Joyce became active members of The Villages Vintage Car Club of The Villages Fl. and The North Florida Street Rod Club of Jacksonville, Florida. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2007 at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2007 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Doris Webb. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Our thanks and appreciation go out abundantly to Dr. Corteza, Kidney Specialist and her staff and the Kidney Foundation of Florida, The Central Florida Dialysis Unit and the 2nd Floor Unit of the Leesburg Regional Hospital. Joyce, I was so sorry to hear about John. You told us in Dade City that John had medical problems. I didn't know he was so sick. I would have visited your home or hospital if I'd known. May GOD wrap His tender loving arms around you and give you peace.
