1930 - 2007
 Thelma Gladys Swann McCallister, 77, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Barboursville, W.Va., on October 7, 2007. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at Olive Baptist Church by Rev. Gordon Rutherford and Pastor Larry Skidmore. Entombment will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. She was born June 23, 1930, in Huntington, W.Va., the daughter of James Albert and Pansy Swann. She attended schools in Huntington, Barboursville, and Milton before marrying Hubert McCallister on Dec. 24, 1948. She was an employee of Sylvania Electric and later Owens Illinois, where she worked for about 25 years, mostly on swing shift so as to spend more time with her family, until retiring in 1988. In her retirement, she became a member of Olive Baptist Church and also spent time shopping, traveling with her husband, watching cooking shows and British comedies on TV, keeping a close eye on her children and indulging her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Dawna Jo McCallister. Survivors include her husband, Hubert; sister and brother-in-law, Alma and Sidney DeJarnett of Barboursville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, James Swann Jr. of Milton and Gary and Barbara Swann of Raceland, Ky., sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elsie and Merle Bostic of Milton, two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Lydia McCallister of Pulaski, Va., and Rodney and Manya McCallister of Huntington, Melanie and Pamela McCallister, both of Roanoke, VA.; two grandsons, Brandon and Bradley McCallister, both of Huntington; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Laura and Stephen Prichett of Baltimore, Md; and two great- grandsons, Alexander and Zachary Prichett of Baltimore, Md. All her family and friends will miss her terribly. Friends may call from 6-8 pm Tuesday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, and after 12:00 pm noon Wednesday at the church. Hubert, We are so sorry for your loss. Even though we did not know Thelma well, you two have been in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you so much for all the cards and flowers you have sent my mom (Emmalee Shank).
