Cecil Estep, 88, husband of Mildred Ferguson Estep, of Huntington, passed away Monday, November 12, 2007 at Rivers Bend Health Care, South Point, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted 1 pm Friday, November 16, 2007 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville by Dr. David Lemming and Rev. Richard Sexton. Burial will be in Baylous Cemetery. He was born February 28, 1919 in Branchland, WV, a son of the late Hiram “Chub” and Sarah Gilkerson Estep. He was a member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church, a Sears retiree, a veteran of the US Army, having served during WWII, a prisoner of war for 16 months, being captured at Monte Cassino, Italy. He was also a member of the V.F.W. # 1064, Huntington, and a member of the National American Association of Ex-Prisoners of War, and a member of the Huntington D.A.V. He was preceded in death by his sister, Irene Hatfield and two brothers, Clovis and Earnest Estep. Also surviving are two daughters, Jo Ann Hill and Karen Curran and her husband, Tim, all of Huntington; one son, John David Estep of Grand Rapids, MI; one sister, Eva Lee of Salt Rock; two brothers Alvin and his companion, Lisa, and Sidney Estep and his wife, Macie; one sister-in-law, Alma Estep; four grandsons, Erik Curran, Ethan Hill, Jon-Garth Estep and Matthew Chance Estep; one granddaughter, Charity Curran; one great-grandchild, Hunter Curran and his mother, Courtney Curran. Friends may call from 6-8 pm Thursday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Military graveside services will be conducted by the V.F.W. # 1064.
