DECEMBER 15 2007~Dear Family of precious CHANCE. I have thought of each one in their tears of sorrow at this time.I would(wish) to assist-be of support in way you may call upon me. My sister,Bonnie whom I had spoken to in the past week said,"speak from your heart assuring me that I would find closure in sending my experience of losing those whom I have loved so deeply and loss in death. I am so sorry for what each one of the family has endured. My Faith in knowing that Chance is in the Presence of Paradise comforts me as each day emerges into the next one with its time of healing. I am here for each member of the family, whenever called upon anytime. Thank you each and everyone for reading and understaning my words of sympathy. My family cares.

although i never met chance or anyone in your family i was very touched and saddened when i read of his passing in the paper. what a sweet smile that i'm sure blessed your hearts every day and will always be with you. i thank god that he is not suffering any longer and is in his healthy heavenly home. i met his maternal grandmother today just by chance and was touched by her strength and the words she spoke of her sweet angel. may god bless your entire family and give you strength and peace as you celebrate baby chance's time on earth.

Hot tears running down our cheeks. The death of the Righteous is no accident. Do you think that the God whose watchful vigil notes the sparrow's fall and who knows the number of hairs would tudrn His Back on one of His children in the hour of peril? With God there are no accidents,tragedies,and no catastrophes as far as His children are concerned. "To me, to live is Christ andto die is gain" Our strong unshakeable faith takes on trouble, persecution,pain,thwarted plans,and broken dreams in stride. "Is death the last sleep? NO, it is the final AWAKENING." Chance Nathaniel Spurlock, of Salt Rock, WV, son of Shane and Stacy Bowen Spurlock, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at home. Chance left this world peacefully in his mothers arms with a smile on his face, having victoriously won his battle against mitochondrial disease. Chance was born February 23, 2007 in Huntington. Chance leaves behind three brothers who loved him very much, Chase, Caleb and Caden. Also surviving are paternal grandfather, Rick Spurlock of East Lynn; paternal great grandmother, Barbara Smith of Huntington; paternal great grandfather, Cecil Ridenour and his wife, Janice of Huntington; paternal great-grandfather, Bob Spurlock of Bowling Green, KY; maternal grandparents, Garland and Marilyn Plybon Bowen of Huntington; and maternal great-grandfather, Bill Plybon and his wife, Sally of Milton. Chance will be misssed by numerous family members and friends as well as several very special nurses who have helped care for him over these past several months. We would like to say a special thank you to our team members from Birth to Three as well as Hospice. Funeral services will be conducted at River Cities Community Church Saturday, December 1, 2008 at 11:00 am by Pastor Larry Greene. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington.
