 James L. Castle, 73, of Huntington went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 16, 2008. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Lewis Memorial Baptist Church by the Dr. David Lemming. Entombment will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. He was born August 29, 1934, in Meridian, MS, a son of the late Lester W. Castle and Bea Menees Castle. He was a member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church and he retired from the City of St. Petersburg, FL Police Department. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Alexandria Massie. He is survived by his wife, Jean Towler Castle; one daughter and son-in-law, Dayna and Robert Massie of Huntington; three sons, David J. Castle of Huntington, Stephen Castle and James Castle Jr. both of Florida; one brother, Michael Castle of Florida; two grandchildren, Taylor Massie and Caroline Massie; special sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Neil Steigerwalt of Blairsville, GA. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Huntington Police Department for their kindness and participation of their honor guard for Mr. Castles Graveside service. i never was able to meet my grandfather or basically anyone on that side of my family but it is nice reading these condolences from people that knew him

Jim was one of the first officers that I rode with when I was a rookie....he was a great officer and always enjoyed being on the street with him....

I worked with Jim at the St. Petersburg Police Department for many years. He was a good police officer and liked by all his fellows. I am saddened to hear of your loss.

I will never forget being wholeheartedly welcomed into family gatherings and spending time during our visits. I am truly sad, and know that Michael is even more so. Our prayer and love goes to your whole family, and our fond memories will be treasured.

Jean, David and Family, We were saddened to hear of Jim's passing. My memory of Jim was one of a wonderful father who guided his family with intense pride. He truly lead by example with his unwavering kindness and spiritual convictions. David, I know the happy memories of your Dad will comfort you in this difficult time.
