Hazel Carmine PooleHazel Carmine McNair Poole, 86, of Barboursville, WV, formerly of Center Valley, PA, passed away Monday, January 21, 2008 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Jerry Harrah at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Kuhn Memorial Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Parkwood Cemetery, Baltimore, MD. Hazel was born August 12, 1921 in Baltimore, MD, daughter of the late Hector Evander and Grace Sipe McNair. She was preceded in death by her husband William David Poole, and one infant son, David Scott Poole. Hazel dedicated her life to family and service to others. She was strong in her Christian belief and served the Presbyterian Church as an elder, deacon, and teacher. Her joy was singing in the choir. So great was her love of books that she co-founded Southern Lehigh Public Library. She was honored by the Pennsylvania Governor for her more than 20,000 hours of dedicated service to the library. Hazel spent many hours researching the family genealogy and experiencing her Scottish heritage through travel, dance and music. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Margaret Poole Dodge of Houston, TX; sons and daughters-in-law, William Lawrence Larry and Larysa Poole of Houston, TX, and Jon Michael and Kathy Denise Poole of Ona, WV; sister, Doris McNair Yehle of Ft. Worth, TX; grandsons, David Charles Poole, Keith Alexander Poole and Devin Tyler Poole; and granddaughter, Kateryna Tsybulska. Friends may call from 6-8 pm Friday, January 25, 2008 at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville and after 1:00 pm Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kuhn Memorial Presbyterian Church Christian Education and Music program.
