Sister Ruth and Family, Brother Walter was always an inspiration to me as a small child as I listened to the Sacred Hour on WKEE on Sunday mornings. Then I was fortunate to be under his leadership at the 18th Street U.B. Church when he was Pastor in the 1990's while I attended Marshall. He would always ask me to sing no matter what church we were in. He always encouraged me to use my talent for God. We have truly lost a giant in the faith. May God comfort you in your sorrow and strengthen in knowing he is at peace, asleep in Christ Jesus.

Sister Ruth, My heart goes out to you and your family in your loss. I will always cherish the memories of Brother Walter in our Association Meetings, especially the last meeting he was able to attend. His love for the Lord and our Association was so strong. I truly appreciate the kindness he showed to me. You will always have a special place in my heart for your faithful devotion to Brother Walter. You are truly an example to all the women that know you. May God bless and keep you is my prayer.

I remember Walter from the 18th St Baptist Church. I grew up in that church and was married in that church after he left. I was saddened when I read his obituary but know that God now has one of his angels by his side. He did all God's work he could do here on earth and it was time for him to go home and rest. I hope that knowing this Ruth and the family can find comfort. May God Bless us all and one day we will be home with him. Maria "Snider" Stowers, best remembered as being the youngest daughter of Rosalie and niece of Patty Runyon.

I'm sure your hearts are heavy at this time, but take comfort that he is resting from his labors and his works will follow him for years. With love, Edison & Linda Vance

Walter Adkins married my wife Connie Charles to me almost 30 years ago in 18th St. United Baptist Church. His walk wih GOD served as inspiration to us throughout our marriage. His love for Ruth and all the children were a model I tried to immulate. Sadly missed, but greatly admired that he now waits to introduce us to his JESUS when we arrive in paradise. Ruth, Becky all the children. We love you. Our prayers are with you
