Dear Joy and Rosemary, I will never forget just moving from Lincoln Co. and my sister, Monica, and I joining your B'ville softball team. Your dad was our coach and was a wonderful, warm, and accepting human being to us "outlanders". I have no doubt he was the same in every field of endeavor. I was never fortunate enough to have him for any class on campus, but we did cross paths many years ago. We danced a couple of numbers and even sang a number together. He spoke very highly of you girls. He had a great love for you both, as I am sure you had for him. Always have warm memories of your dad and save those "Bill" stories for your children and grandchildren. I'm sure you've got some pricless ones! With Sympathy, KK Smith

I am so so sorry. I wish I had known --I was talking to my sister, Judy, on Wednesday and we were both really sorry to hear that. Course our parents, Jack and Cornell have both passed and we know how hard that can be. Truly sorry.

Joy and Rosemary,
I was so sorry to hear about the death of your father. I have many good memories of him, and of our time at Cropper. He was a kind, talented, and helpful man. I hadn't seen him(or you!) in years, but I remember him and your family well. He taught me how to not strike out in softball! Mother and I were remembering the time he fell off the stage at one of the Cropper graduations. What a memory! He was a good teacher and coach. I last saw him at a restaurant in Shelbyville probably more than twenty years ago. He recognized me, but at first I didn't recognize him. I know it was a long time ago, because I remember my son was very young, and he's 27 now.
I lost my father a couple of years ago, and know it is a great loss. Mother is still here, but not doing very well.My brother David is an attorney in Richmond, Ky., and has two daughters who both live in New York City. I'm a world history teacher at Shelby County High-just can't seem to get away from there, but it's very different now, and doesn't even seem like the place I went to high school. I live near Middletown in Jefferson County.I was married for 26 years, but am now divorced and have a married grown son,Clay, who lives in California and works in computer science at Stanford University, but no grandchildren yet.
Hope both of you and your families are well-
Alice (Bohannon) Collier

Joy and Rosemary, Bill was my first cousin, four years younger than I, my mother being Stella, Susie's older sister. After the death of his father, he and Aunt Susie visited in our home on many occasions. In the recent past he and I visited by telephone several times, but not in the last few years. I was unaware of his illness and regret hearing the news my younger brother, Terry, shared with me today. Please know you have my fondest condolences, but I know you both will always cherish the closeness you shared with Bill, as he always spoke lovingly of you both. Bless you.

Dear Joy and Rosemary,
I read with sadness the death of Mr.Gordon. I'm sure you don't remember me but I remember both of you from long ago. I was at Cropper School in the school year of 1962-63 when your Dad served as Principal, Teacher, and Coach. I was Valedictorian of that 8th grade class and a member of the basketball team that won the County Championship. Your Dad was a fine man, teacher, and coach. It was a very good year in the words of Frank Sinatra. I was lucky enough to run into him a couple of years ago at a Funeral Home in Shelbyville and we had a nice talk. I hope both of you are doing well and I'm sure you have many fond memories of Mr.Gordon.
Sincerely,
Terry Hall

Joy and Rosemary,
We just saw the ad in the Shelbyville paper this morning. We are so sorry to hear of Billy's passing. We sort of lost touch the last year and did not know he was ill. His quartet was the first to sing directly to Sandy and we loved him a lot and will miss him. Wish we could have known so we could have come to the funeral. sincerely, Terry and Sandy

We will miss Bill, with his ready smile and self-deprecating wit. He was a 'steady Eddie' on the court and always dependable to show up.
Bill belonged to a group of men players of a certain age, who it was always a pleasure and an honor to play with.
You were always going to have a good time on the court when Bill was around.
He will be missed . . .
