1930 - 2008
 Berton C. Eplin, Sr., 78 of Huntington, WV, died Friday July 25, 2008 of complications from Alzheimers at Huntington Health and Rehab. Mr. Eplin was born June 10, 1930, in Wayne County, a son of the late Alva and Alice Hager Eplin of Nokomis, FL. Berton was retired from Conners Steel and attended 26th Street Baptist Church.. He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Thomas M. Eplin of NH in June of this year, three brothers, Donald, Howard, and Ozell Eplin. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Cuba Mae (Midkiff) Eplin; two sons, Berton C. Eplin, Jr, and his wife Deborah of Huntington, David Eplin and his wife, Linda of Barboursville; one daughter, Sharon Kay Rice of Huntington; two sisters, Velva Lester and Virtle Bartram of FL. He had five grandchildren, Leslie (Eric) Arrison and Amy Rice of Huntington, Beth (Gunner) Greene of Fergus Falls, MN, Sarah (Jerod) Smalley of Columbus, OH and David Eplin II of Barboursville. Mr. Eplin also had six great-grandchildren, Mikayla Rice and Jordan Harless of Huntington, Brady and Tyler Smalley of Columbus, OH, Brock and Bryce Greene of Fergus Falls, MN. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Harry Scarberry and Pastor Craig Gee. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Friends may call from 6-8 pm Monday, July 28, 2008 at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Huntington City Mission or to The River Cities Community Church Youth Fund.
