1936 - 2008
Harold Lloyd Duffer, lovingly known as "Gramps" to his family, son of Kermit and Lorene (Meadows) Duffer, born March 11, 1936, has gone to be with his Lord after a long illness on August 27, 2008. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 52 years, Delora Fay (Hayes) Duffer of Milton, his daughters and sons-in-law, Connie Faye (Duffer) and Jack Sharp, Carletta Sue (Duffer) and Dennis "Midget" Morgan both of Ona, his grandchildren, Summer Brooke and Roland Salmons of Milton, Zachary Seth and Anne Morgan of White Bear Lake, MN, Tara Whitney Villars, Carlee Erin Villars and Katelyn MaChelle Morgan, his two great-grandchildren, Kaden Matthew Villars and Elizabeth Anne Morgan, and his siblings, Doris and Rev. Paul Sydenstricker of Lake Placid, FL, Gilbert and Darlene Duffer of Canton, OH, James and Bernadette Duffer of North Brunswick, NJ. Gramps served his nation in the Army as a guard at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and was employed by Chemical Leman Tanklines for over 20 years and retired from TNT Holland in 1999. Gramps was a long-time, active member at Lower Creek United Methodist Church where he served as a lay speaker, Sunday School Superintendent, choir leader and Sunday school teacher. All who knew him experienced his loving kindness and humble servitude, but his family knew him best by his dry, but active sense of humor and his shining example of how to be a good, Godly person and a good, Godly man. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2008 at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.

Midge, I just learned about Harold's move to Heaven. I'm sorry for the pain this causes for you, your family and friends. Wonderful memories of Harold are flooding my thoughts now. Alice also enjoyed the times she was around you and Harold.
We pray that you all will feel the love of God and your friends in a very special way during this time.

I went to Lower Creek when I was a kid & everytime I think of church, I think of Harold. He would always tell everyone what page to turn to in the Hymnal & he lead the choir so nicely. I will always have fond memories of him & his family & grandchildren. God Bless the family & may god lay his hand upon you in this time of grief.

Carletta - I'm so sorry about the loss of your dad and know all too well the void you must be feeling. Take comfort in knowing that he is happy & healthy now, in a far better place than we could ever imagine. Just think of the wonderful "Lower Creek" reunion there must be going on in Heaven.
You & your family are in my thoughts & prayers. Teresa

I was so saddened to hear of Mr. Duffer's passing. I had the pleasure of being his nurse several times while he was at St. Mary's. He was such a sweet man. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
