 Rev. Homer Haskel Hatfield, 92, of Branchland, WV, went home to be with the Lord on November 20, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2008 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by the Pastor Robert Hatfield and Rev. Ray Adkins. Burial will be in Ben Hatfield Cemetery, Salt Rock, WV. He was born August 30, 1916, in Cabell County, West Virginia, a son of the late Bennie Hatfield and Elizabeth May Hatfield. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Clarkie Smith; daughter, Debbie Martin; brothers, Okey, Romie, and Golden Hatfield; sisters, Blanch Hatfield and Eunice Cremeans. He is survived by his wife, Marie Vannatter Hatfield; two daughters, Barbara Martin and Vicky (Bob) Emerick; six sons, Fred Hatfield, Larry (Beverly) Hatfield, Kenny (Terry) Hatfield, Ted (Sharon) Hatfield, Steve Hatfield, and Ricky Hatfield; son-in-law Eddie Martin; two sisters, Irene Messinger and Shirley Whaley; brother Tomie Hatfield (Diana); 25 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. I still remember kissing Poppaw Hat's nose and waking him up on night when I was getting ready to go back home. I was called Bobby back in those days. It is so sad that I lost touch with everyone in this river called life. I still love him to this day.

I am sorry to hear of homer passing. I remember going with grandpa(Ritzel) when he went to visit homer and marie. Homer was a good man of god.

You know me as B J the nurse from Cabell Home Health. I had the privalage of caring for Debbie, & occasionally of Homer. Your family has always been very kind & special. Barb I am so sorryabout the loss of your father. I know how hard this is on you and I wish we could be there for you. Just know that mom is up there looking ourt for him and taking care of him. My heart goes out to all of you.
