Ralph W. ClayRalph W. Clay, 84 of Milton, West Virginia, passed away Friday November 28, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Monday, December 1, 2008 at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, by Pastor Mark Finley. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park. He was born October 14, 1924 in Huntington, West Virginia, a son of the late Rufus and Ruby Ashworth Clay. He was a senior member of Sunrise Temple Baptist Church, which he held as a special place in his heart. He was a retired employee of Owens-Illinois Glass Co, with 38 years of service. As a veteran of World War II, he served in the US Navy on the Frederick C. Davis (Destroyer Escort) and later served in the US Army. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Carrie Mae Clay and one brother and sister-in-law, Rufus and Janice Clay, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carol Arlene Clay; two sons, Ralph Timothy Clay of Milton, West Virginia and Norman Patrick Clay of Barboursville, West Virginia; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles Norman and Theresa Clay of Ft. Worth, Texas and Dan Edward and Charlene Clay of Huntington, West Virginia; two grandchildren, Aaren Ashleigh Clay and Nicholas Ian Clay, both of Houma, Louisiana; and two special friends and their spouses, Lyle and Roberta Mann and Dalton and Wanda Lewis. Honorary pallbearers will be former Navy shipmates, Eddie Walters of Indiana and Bill Reimer of Wisconsin. Friends may call from 6:30- 9:00 pm Sunday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton. Pat, I was really sorry to read of your father's passing in the Herald Dispatch this morning. I try to keep up with things from back home on-line.
