
Buddy White of Howells Mill Road, Ona, WV, passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on February 11, 2009, in Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conduted at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2009, at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, by Pastor Paul Meadows. Buddy was born August 1, 1914, in Cabell County, West Virginia, to the late Harry and Anzo White. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Harry White, and two sisters, Ebbie Lewis and Sarah Louise Canfield. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Opal Chapman White and his second wife, Mary Johnson White, and one step-son, Patrick Johnson. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Bernie and Goldie White; three step-children; Michael Johnson, Janet Rice, and Mary Ann Godbey; three grandchildren, Tom Scarberry of Ona, Bridgette Long of Scottown, OH, and Mark Ferguson of Huntington; three great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and seven step- great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends and neighbors, Dan and Betty Sue Abshire, and many other special friends in the neighborhood. Buddy retired from Special Metals (Inco) with 33 years of service. He was a member of the Quarter-Century Club at Inco. He was a member and deacon for 35 years at Mud River Baptist Church, Ona. He was a current member and deacon at The Church in the Valley, Milton, WV. He enjoyed his church activities and his church family. He was an avid reader of the Bible, reading it many times a day. His favorite past-time was gardening, spending many of his days in the garden, watching his plants grow. The first vegetables of the season were a special thrill. A special thank you to his caregiver Susie Lewis, and food preparers, Tony Turbin and Mark Rider for the good food at Chateau Grove. Susie and his other caregivers made him feel special and at home. Thank you to the staff at Hospice House for the good care they gave him and also thank you to Dr. Klinestiver and Sheila.
