We've lost a great friend. Our sincere condolences to Eileen and family. Tom was a long-time friend to me, Keith, and my late father. My father often mentioned his friendship with Tom that began before the War when my father briefly worked for the C&O and Tom was a machinist. As a new employee of the AAR in the early 70s, I enjoyed working with Tom on numerous AAR projects and committees. Tom could always be counted on for friendship and professional support. A true gentleman in every sense of the word.

Dear Eileen,
I was saddened to learn of Tom's passing and want to extend my sincere condolences to you and your family for the loss of your beloved Tom. I shall always remember him as a most gracious Southern gentleman and always with an enduring wit. I have fond memories of the times we spent together aboard Car 10000 going to and from Amtrak events, inaugurals, and dedications all over the Southeast and beyond! I've missed not seeing you all over the years since we both retired from Amtrak. May God bless you and your family in your sorrow and always.
Sincerely,
Wick Leatherwood

Am proud to have worked under your direction as CMO - Mechanical Dept in Huntington, WV for a number of years. On a visit to your home by your invitation approx. 2 years ago, I enjoyed you showing your display of CSX memorabilia...it was extensive, I remember, and you were so proud of it. I remember meeting your lovely wife, Eileen, and your lovely caregiver, Mary...both gracious ladies. Sincerely, Kathy
