CARL EDWARD ADKINS, 65, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Heron Adkins. Burial will be in Bowen Cemetery. He was born December 27, 1943, in Wayne County, West Virginia, a son of the late Delbert Reno Adkins and Rosella Gilkerson Adkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Deanna Dare Hammond Adkins; one son, Carl Adkins Jr.; and one brother, Londel Adkins. He is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Stevie) Eaves of Huntington, W.Va.; two sons, Rodney Adkins (Sherri Aldridge) of Huntington, W.Va., and Michael Hammond of Huntington, W.Va.; two sisters, Rose Adkins of Huntington, W.Va., and Jean Clay of Proctorville, Ohio; one brother, Delbert Adkins, of Huntington, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and special friend, Janice Holsten.
