1929 - 2009
William Jackson Varney, 79, of Barboursville, WV, died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at home with his loving family present. He was the son of the late Joseph Lee Varney and Hilda Chafin Varney of Delbarton. He was born on September 1, 1929, in Delbarton. Jack is survived by his wife Ozella Sparks Varney who took great care of him for 56 years of marriage until the moment he passed from this world into the heavens where he is now reunited with his three brothers, Joe, Don, and Jim. Jack leaves behind four children to remember and cherish the times they spent with their father. They are Bonnie Jacqueline Varney of Barboursville, Lindsey Lee Varney of Chesapeake, Deborah Ellen Jitima and her husband Charlie of Ona, and William Robin Varney and his wife Dee Dee of Barboursville. His surviving grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew him as a jokester who was always asking for hugs and never turned down a play date. They are grandson Ben Jitima and his wife Jenni and their children, Jakob, Jackson, and Jarrett; grandson, Nick Jitima and his fiancee Ricki; and granddaughter Kelly Stowers and her husband Shawn. He is also survived by his sister Pat Tingler of Lenore. Many thanks and appreciation to his special sister-in-law Betty Varney and her family for their much needed care and kindness throughout the years and until the end of his life. Instead of flowers, the family wishes donations sent to Hospice of Huntington. Thanks to all hospice workers who cared for Jack and his family, especially Lois Norris and Ginger Kuhn. We would have been lost without you. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Dr. Tim Yates. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.
