Raymond H. Lyell, 76, of Barboursville, passed away Friday, August 14, 2009. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, August 17, 2009, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Minister David Gladwell and Rev. Rick Brown. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. He was born August 15, 1932, in Dixon, TN, a son of the late Arch Lyell and Blanche Hicks Lyell. He was a member of Barboursville Church of Christ and member of American Legion Post #177, Barboursville. He retired from the United States Army with 24 years of service having served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Raymond was the Deputy Director and served as Interim Director of the Huntington Civic Center. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Jones. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Sherry D. Lyell; six children and their spouses, Thomas A. and Christy Sias of Evansville, IN, Jamey L. and Jill Sias of Hickory, NC, Maggie and Heath Wolfe of Barboursville, Adaria R. Sias of Barboursville, Eddie Lyell, Wayne Lyell both of Georgia; one sister, Louise and one brother, Archie; grandchildren, Tyler and Kelsey Morris, Emma Sias, Meagan, Gavin, Luke Raymond Sias, and Nathan Wolfe. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace. The family would like to thank Dr. Joy Martin, Vickie Chadwick, Nancy Bostat, Pro Careers, Teresa, Judy, and Kathy Carter, Hospice House of Huntington, Dr. Cynthia Winger, Louis, Mickey, Raymond and Christa. He was most loved, a wonderful, special Husband, Dad, and Papaw. We will love and miss him forever.

Ray was a great man.Iam sorry Icould not be there.Ray loved me just like his own kids.Iwork for Ray when lived with them in Tn.Thomas Iam so sorry I missed Rays funeral.I loved him too.Ray was a great man and I will miss him too.R.I.P.God bless his loving family.

Dear Sherry and family, We were saddened by the news of Ray's passing. We have wonderful memories of him while in Germany. We prayed at our Mass yesterday for you and the family. We missed his phone calls in the past months and will keep him in our memory.

I am so sorry for the loss of Ray. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a wonderful person and always knew how to make people smile. The entire family is in my thoughts and prayers.
