Melva Kay Nicely, 69, of Proctorville, OH passed away Thursday, September 10, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:00 am Monday, September 14, 2009 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Kellie Weekley-Mills of Riverview Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh, PA. Graveside services will be conducted by Pastor Lawana Cook-Scott of Central United Methodist Church, of Huntington. Burial will be in Baylous Cemetery. She was born January 11, 1940 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Leonard and Theodosa Johnson. She was preceded in death by an infant baby, Rondal Nicely, and one brother, Don Johnson. Kay lived her faith by reaching out in many different areas. She volunteered at the Good Shepherd Food Pantry for 11 years. She taught Sunday School classes Vacation Bible School, worked with youth in church, had been a volunteer at Contact and a member of a Monday morning Bible study that has continued for 25 years. She had also participated in PTA during the years. She also was an ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Ron Nicely; one son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Nancy Nicely of Grand Rapids, MI; three grandchildren, Alexis, Hunter, and McKenna; sisters, Bernestine Gill, of Huntington, Janice Ringle of SC; and a brother, Lloyd Johnson of Huntington and several nieces and nephews.
