Dear Dick, I am so sorry to learn of Rosie's passing. Dwight and I had left for vacation on Oct.5th and just returned home today, Oct.12. Rosie was a sweet, friendly and beautiful person. Just in the short time I knew her from work and thru singing numerous times at our church, I dearly loved and respected her. We send our deepest and sincerest sympathy to you and family. I would liked to have been here to attend her visitation and funeral. God Bless you and your family. I will keep you in my prayers. Linda Kirby.

Mr.Crane I am sorry to hear of Mrs. Cranes passing and apologize for not being able to attend her funeral, so I will use this situation to express my thoughts that my mere presence would not convey. I will always remember Mrs. Crane as a kind and gentle woman. A woman who seemed as concerned with my well-being and development as she did her own sons during those happy and challenging years when Russell and I were attempting to grow as young men and aspiring to earn the title of soldier and officer. Although my memories of Jason are shadowy, I am happy, and not at all surprised, to hear that the wild and happy little boy I remember 25 years ago has grown into honorable manhood an is now a State Trooper! My wife and I occasionally see your good and lovely daughter Rhonda, and her fine husband, on the soccer field where your grandchildren and our children compete! I have always thought that Rhonda was a perfect reflection of Mrs. Crane's inner and outer beauty, and I know in the future you will find comfort in that reflection. I am happy to hear of Russell's pending promotion and share in your pride of his numerous achievements. I have always told Russell, on those too few occasions I have seen him since our paths have taken us apart, that he is my hero! I feel it proper at this time to disclose a little secret concerning the only hero I ever remember Russell talk about. I will never forget those occasions when Russell and I would be returning from a drill or field training exercise in your red Ford Mustang, and hearing the pride in his voice as he discussed his father, the soldier, the paratrooper, and the example of a man he aspired to imitate. I thank you sir for inspiring your son to imitate you, for many of the virtues you inspired in your son I adopted as my own, and I am a better man due to my friendship with your son than I could have ever been without it. For that I am in your debt. Over the course of my career in the goverment, I have come to know men of power and influence and must confess to becoming a little cynical concerning the lack of honor and integrity many men of rank and title actually possess. I take some comfort and hope in hearing of Russell's potential promotion to Brigadier General. This proves to me that men of courage and character are still capable of ascending to power in our government, and for this I am thankful. Russell truly possesses those rare and mysterious characteristics of leadership that without, the mere insignia of a Colonel's eagle or a General's star have no meaning. These are characteristics that both you and I have always recognized in Russell. It is said that a mans character is reflected by his family; and if this is true, and I believe it is, you sir are a man with few equals. In closing; we are truly sorry for the loss of Rose, and we know she awaits you at the feet of our King. Sincerly and respectfully, Joey, Sonya, Ian, Erin, and Eric Noble
