Richard Dale Woodall, of Barboursville, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2009. Ricky succumbed to injuries sustained in an auto accident after a two month battle for his life. He was 55.
Ricky, as most knew him, was born October 14, 1954 in Cabell County, WV. He was the eldest of four children born to Johnnie McCarty of Huntington and the late Virgil Woodall.
Ricky spent most of his working life with Adams Trucking, where he was employed nearly 25 years. Ricky was also a jack-of-all-trades. If he wasnt working on a car for someone, he was building something. When Ricky wasnt working, you could find him hanging outside with his family and friends, or maybe hed go out for a ride on his bike. As recent as this summer, you may even catch him in a pickup basketball game. He truly enjoyed his life and lived it to its fullest.
In addition to his dad, Ricky was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Peggy Young; his father-in-law, Walter Young; a brother-in-law, Steven McCallister, an aunt Doris Woodall, an uncle Lester Woodall and his brother Steven (Bigmoe) Woodall. Before tragically losing Bigmoe in 2007, the two were inseparable and we find comfort knowing theyve been reunited.
Ricky was a very devoted and loving family man. He would do anything in his power to provide for them. Surviving members include his estranged wife of 35 years, Theia Woodall of Barboursville; his children, Karen Allen and husband Chris of Huntington; Chad, Terry, and Harrison Woodall of Barboursville; a brother David McCarty and his wife Amy of Huntington; a sister Brenda Moss of Greensville, SC; three sisters-in-law, Jill McCallister of Moundsville, WV; Marjorie Hertig and husband Eric of Goode, VA; and Sherri Chappell of Huntingon. Seven nieces and nephews, Stephen McCallister, Ashley Kirk, and her husband Will, Nicholas Moss, Jamie and Leland Hertig, Alexis Deskins, and Alex McCarty; and five grandchildren Dakota Woodall, Jacob and Skyler Allen, Madelyn Hardiman, and Carsyn Ward; other special family members, Mary Woodall, Danny Woodall, Marsha Faulkner, JoAnn Speed, Rubon, Tamara, Tanner, and Josie Lovejoy; best friends Joe Willis II and Jack Cantley; and special friends Misty Ward, Amy Call, and Stacy Napier; and so many more.
Ricky Woodall will be sorely missed by all that had the privilege to know him. We love you, Ricky, and well miss you.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 14, 2009 at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel in Barboursville, with the Rev. E.S. Harper officiating. Friends of the family may visit from 5:30 to 7:30pm with the funeral starting at 7:30pm. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace. Also, any donations to the Steve Woodall Memorial Fund are greatly appreciated, c/o Branches Domestic Violence Shelter P.O. Box 403, Huntington, WV 25708
