1933 - 2010
 Donald Eugene Stephens, 77, of Salt Rock, WV, entered into peace and rest, March 23, 2010 after having fought courageously a long illness. He was born August 3, 1933, in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Rev. Elijah Lee Stephens and Zeta Martin Stephens. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Courtney, Basil, Hubert and Vernon Stephens; two sisters, Kathleen Martin and Monalleen Young. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 30 years Cleda Regena Perry Stephens; a brother Lee Roy Stephens of Florida; a step sister Thelma Stephens of Huntington; and a special brother-in-law Lyndol Perry of Florida; four daughters Pandora Alexander of Florida, Anna Poston and husband Dale of Barboursville, Rhea Olson of Florida, Donetta Norris and husband Charles II of Florida and one son Eric and wife Debbie also of Florida; one stepson Dwane Carter and wife Pam of Huntington. He has 12 grandchildren and four great granddaughters. He also leaves behind four very special friends Jake and Matilda Harvey and their daughters, his adopted granddaughters Katrina and Melinda of Milton, WV. Donald graduated from Barboursville High School in 1949 where he played football. Shortly after he enlisted in the US Navy where he trained at the Great Lakes Naval School in NY and served in Greenland and Norfork, VA until he was honorably discharged in October 1954. He retired from Lambert Transfer after 30 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 177, Barboursville. Donald was an active and devoted member of the Valley of Decision Baptist Church since 1982. He was faithful in attendance until his health made him unable to attend. He used his God given talent and knowledge his father taught him to do much work on the fellowship building and even built the first church steeple by hand. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Valley of Decision Church with church services at 7 p.m. by Pastor Kevin Shull. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2010 at the church by Rev. Harry Moore Sr. and Rev. Sonnie Sovine. Military graveside rites will by conducted at Enon Cemetery by Veterans Honor Guard, Huntington. Pallbearers will be William Crawford, Lonnie Scraggs, Marvin Perry, Harry Moore Jr., David Stephens and Jake Harvey. so sorry to hear about the loss of a great man. he was always good to me and will be a big part of my child hood stories. Wish all the family my best and hope they to can find pice as the days pass

I took care of Mr. Stephens through Gentiva many times, a long time ago. I always thought highly of him and enjoyed him very much. I am sorry for your loss.
