1938 - 2010
 Russell W. "Oink" Johnson, Sr., 71, of Huntington, went to sleep in the arms of Jesus after a short battle with cancer on the 5th day of April, 2010. He was born April 8, 1938 in Glenwood, WV, a son of the late Morris and Helen McComas Johnson. Surviving is his beloved wife of 48 years, Carolyn Dennison Johnson; one daughter, Sue Johnson, of Huntington, and one son, Rusty (Tanya) Johnson of St. Albans; three grandchildren, Mikell (Kenny) Macias, Brandon and Allison Johnson. Russell retired with 30 years as an operator from I. U. O. E. Local # 132. Russ spent three years in the US Army and four years in the US Marine Corps. He was a born again Christian of 34 years, a loyal member of Faith Outreach Church of Huntington, and Jesus Way Church of Belfry, KY. Russell was also an avid golfer and member of Orchard Hills Golf Course, Barboursville. Also surviving are four brothers, Clovis (Pat) Johnson, of Glenwood, Gaylord (Eilean )Johnson and Wayne (Paula) Johnson of Milton and John Johnson of Huntington; two sisters, Myrtle (Bob) Gilliam of Barboursville and Benita (Berk) Simpson of Glenwood. Russ has a large host of nieces and nephews. He loved his churches and church families. Russell loved Jesus Christ, his Lord, his family and golfing buddies. Russ loved his Pastor Ravin Fields, Jr., and thought of him as a best friend in Christ. A tribute of his life will be held on his birthday, Thursday night, April 8, 2010 from 6-8 pm at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, and after 12 noon Friday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Friday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, by Ravin Fields, Jr. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Behold, a sower went forth to sow. And some fell on the good ground of his heart. Dear Sis Johnson and family, We are sorry for your loss. We pray that the lord comforts you and gives you peace in this sorrowful time. We are so glad that the Lord brought us together as bros and sisters in christ. We will miss Bro Johnson, but know we will see him again in that new heaven.I am so glad that I got to hear bro Johnson testimony when he was a Belfy.It was truly a blessing to me.
