Golden Wetzel McCallisterGolden Wetzel McCallister, 75, of Barboursville, W.Va., passed away Friday, April 30, 2010 at St. Marys Medical Center. He was born April 11, 1935, in West Hamlin a son of the late Lonnie McCallister and Luna Lucas McCallister. Mr. McCallister graduated from Guyan Valley High School. In later years he attended Cabell County Trade School where he studied blueprint and drafting. He was a retired machinist/supervisor for Kerr Glass Company and a machine trade instructor for Cabell County Career and Technical Center. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Elvin, Cledith and Herman McCallister. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Georgia Williamson McCallister; three sons, Gary (Bernita), Mitchell (Amber) and Jeffrey (Kathy); one brother, Emery; four sisters, Vicie Albright, Evelyn Frazier, Loreda Bias and Laanna Crawford. He was a member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church. He was current Master and four time past Master of Western Star Lodge #11 A.F. & A.M. He was a Deputy Grand Lecturer, Grand Representative of Montana and was the elected 113th Grand Master of Mason of West Virginia. He was a member of Royal Arch Masons where he served as Grand High Priest and Grand Lecturer. Also a member of the Knights Templars, Red Cross of Constantine, Beni Kedem Temple, the Scotish Rite and Faithful Forty. He was an avid hunter and outdoors man and enthusiast of American Quarter Horses. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2010 at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville with Tim Yates officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville with Masonic Services by the Grand Lodge of West Virginia. Members of the Western Star #11 Lodge will serve as pallbearers. Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made to Western Star Lodge #11 at 222 Richmond Street; Huntington, WV 25702. Mr. McCallister was a man of the highest caliber....he sat a bench mark that all masons should try to live up to.He will be missed.

GOLDEN I ONLY KNEW YOU FOR 11 MONTHS YOU WERE MY TEACHER FOR 7 IN THAT TIME YOU TAUGHT ME MORE ABOUT THE MACHINIST TRADE , LIFE , WISDOM , AND GOD THAN I HAD LEARNED MY ENTIRE LIFE OF 47 YEARS . IF EVER A MAN WALKED A TRUE PLUMED LINE WHOS COMPASS WAS TRUE AND WHOS FINISHED ESHLAR WAS SQUARE IT WAS YOU . THEY SAY THE GREATEST GIFT A TEACHER CAN GIVE IS KNOWLAGE , I WILL MISS YOU . Dear, Mrs.McCallister and family Sorry to here of your loss. I was a student of Goldens at the vo-teck school. He was a good teacher and a great person.He helped me get my first job as a tool-maker. I very lucky to have known him.

I worked with Golden at the Vo Tech Center for several years. He was a wonderful person and he always had a smile & a pleasant word for the other teachers. He always had an encouraging word for his students. He will be missed by everyone. My prayers are with all of you.
