1921 - 2010
Don Ellis, 89, of Barboursville, passed peacefully on May 8, 2010 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Don was born Feb. 27, 1921 in Logan County, a son of the late William and Annie Ellis. He was preceded in death by brothers Wilson, Tennis, and Everett Ellis, and special family members, sisters-in-law Anna Lambert and Mary Eplin, Richard Mayo, and Joe Catanzarite. Don's greatest enjoyment in life was his family, especially his loving wife, Zula, of 62 years; daughter Trina Smith and son-in-law Don Smith; special grandson Joshua Smith; son Larry Ellis and daughter-in-law Melanie Ellis. He served in the Armed Forces from Jan. 1942 to Nov. 1945 as a member of the 103rd Medical Batallion, Company C, in the Rhineland and Central European theaters during World War II. Following an honorable discharge, he drove for Continental Trailways until retiring in 1985. He was a proud member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church. A friend to all, Don was an avid birdwatcher with a love for nature. He loved food, never missing an opportunity to share a meal and warm conversation with his family and dear friends. Throughout his illness he remained a tower of strength for his family, who alongside the wonderful people of Hospice of Huntington provided full-time care for the final months of his life. Special thanks to Jo Ghiz and Margie Copley, and his in-home caregivers, Delta and Yanet, with whom he came to share a special relationship. Friends may call on Monday, May 10, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wallace Funeral Home in Barboursville. A celebration of Dons life will occur at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, with Dr. David Lemming officiating. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, who have filled our lives with a unique caring and peace of mind during this time. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.

Hello, My name is Caleb and I am one of Jehovahs Witnesses. Im very sorry for the death that youve experienced in your family recently. Ive just been sharing a comforting scripture with you and similar individuals who have lost dear loved ones in death. John 11:25 says... "He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life."
We agree with the bible when it says at Acts 24:15... that there will be a resurrection, of both the righteous and unrighteous.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. If you would like a brochure about the TRUE condition of our dead loved ones, and their hope, please contact me at my email address calebaniol@yahoo.com. Regardless, please know that we are thinking of you and your family at this time!
Thank you for your time,
Sincerely,
Caleb Aniol

I met Don Ellis in 1964 when I was 11 years old. My mother was a teacher at Guyan Valley High School and we went on a trip to D.C. He was our driver. He was very kind to me and gave me cinnamon candy. I always think of him when I eat cinnamon candy, even after all these years. I'm so sorry for your loss.

So sorry to hear about Don's passing, but glad to know that he is in heaven with Jesus. It has been many years since I as a young man worked with Don at Trailways, and he was always the picture of an honest, decent, family man and I always appreciated his inspiration.
God bless and be with you all.

I am so sorry to hear of Uncle Don's passing. I am Patty's (Dorothy's daughter) oldest daughter. I don't believe I've seen Uncle Don since I was a small child but family is always in the heart. I will keep everyone in my thoughts & prayers. (((Hugs)))
