Jerry W. Morrison Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1950 - 2010

Jerry W. MorrisonOn Wednesday, June 23, 2010, Jerry W. Morrison, age 60, of Salt Rock, WV, passed into his eternal life and walked into the arms of our loving Heavenly Father after a long courageous battle with multiple illnesses. He was born May 9, 1950, to the late Hallie and Havanna Morrison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Donald and Glen Morrison; one nephew, Robbie Chapman; one niece, Roberta Black; father-in-law, Elmer Ball; and sister-in-law, Dorkas Gill. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Sharon, who loved and cared for him throughout their 39 years of marriage; one daughter, Kristy Nester (Trace Ison) of Salt Rock; two sons, Mike Morrison (Melody Collins) of Salt Rock, and John Morrison (Amanda) of Milton; Steve Nester of Huntington; three sisters, Onita Toler, Lillian Faye Chapman, and Betty Monday (Fred); one brother, Bobby Joe Morrison, and grandchildren, Leesha Campbell, Trey and Hayden Nester, Austin and Hunter Morrison, and Ryan Kingery, to whom he adored. Jerry attended Salt Rock Elementary and Junior High, and graduated from Barboursville High School in 1969. He then went to work for Huntington Alloys, which is now known as Special Metals, and retired in 1993. To all who knew him, knew he received his greatest treasures out of the simplest things in life: family, friends, food, and sitting on his front porch with his two best buddies, Max and Blue, his two weimaraners. He truly enjoyed the outdoors, spending hours upon hours sitting on his porch with his binoculars watching wildlife, after becoming ill. Prior to that he was an avid hunter and loved to fish and camp, especially our trips to the cabin in Hardy County, WV. The family would like to give special thanks to all of the family and friends that came to spend time with Jerry during his passing. It was a true blessing for him to get to see and talk to each and everyone of you. To the staff at St. Marys Medical Center, Telemetry unit, a special thank you to Donald and Christian (RN)s, and to the staff in the Neuro Trauma ICU along with all the supporting staff, Dr. Whitmore and Elizabeth Ann at Valley Health, Dr. Susan B. Touma, Dr. Kumar, Henry (RN) and Fresenius Dialysis Center Staff, Dr. Pruitt and staff at Duke University, and All Med (Allan Midkiff and Justin Adkins). Each and everyone of you has played an important role in Jerrys life and to which we will be forever grateful. Also special thanks to Dave Moore from Rich Rental, Barboursville, Chris Steward, Gary Ross, Bobby Joe Morrison, Jerry Davis, Brent Johnson, Kevin Shull, Sam Morris, Brent Beckett, and Ronald Morrison for their help of the services. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2010, at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, by Pastor Brent Beckett and Pastor Sam Morris. Burial will follow at Jerrys farm, at his request. Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton. I was sad to learn of the passing of Jerry. I workewith Jerry when I lived in Barboursville. I was in the same training classes with him at INCO. Jerry and I were very good friends. I spent a lot of time on his property with him cutting wood. He helped me move my parents from Huntington to Barboursville and my mother and father fell in love with him. I left WV in 1986 and moved to Florida and have thought of Jerry many times. Please accept my condolences and know he and his family will be in my prayers.

Dear Sharon and family, I will always see Jerry with a smile and his invitation to visit. I knew him from childhood and often visited the family home. He will always have a special place in my heart. I know we will see him one day and he will be healthy again! Until that reunion, may God, and the prayers of friends give you peace.

We were so sad to hear the news. But what rejoicing there is in Heaven. What a wonderful feeling to know that your loved one is headed there and you can see them again if you know the Lord. I have had grandparents pass, but never a parent or spouse so I don't know exactly what you are going through. But I pray that God gives you peace and allows you to remember all the wonderful memories you had together. We love you guys. Praying for you.

Dear Sharon & Family, We are very saddened at Jerry's passing and will be praying for you and your family at this most difficult time. Jerry was such a dear sweet cousin to my Father as well as a great friend. When we would stop by to see you all (when we would come in from Ohio) we were always welcomed and always had such nice visits. Please accept our deepest sympathies.
