1956 - 2010
Richard C. Evans (Rick), 54, of Barboursville, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on August 20, 2010 after a tragic accident. He was a great son, a loving husband, and a fantastic father. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard G. Evans and his mother-in-law, Nora Ann Porter. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Charlene Evans; his son, Christopher Evans; his mother, Gladys Godsey Evans; his sisters; Debra Turpin (J.R), her three sons Ben and Jeff Scott and Joseph Turpin; and Patti King (Bobby) and her son Robert Jolly; sisters-in-law Linda Smith and Mitzi Vance (Jim); brothers-in-law, Dexter Porter (Becky); Ernest Meadows (Ann); and Arthur Meadows (Carolyn); and many nieces and nephews. Rick was a Christian first and a mechanic second. He owned and operated Ricks Auto Repair Shop with his wife for 16 years and was a mechanic for 42 years. He was a deacon at Bloomingdale-Salem Baptist Church, a Sunday School teacher, the director of their childrens program Kidz 4 Christ, an usher, and many other things for the Lord. God, family, church and cars were his life and it was a beautiful life to be a part of. Everyone turned to Rick for everything and he gave back nothing but love and joy. He was loved and adored and will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 23, 2010 from 5-8 pm at the Wallace Funeral Home in Barboursville, W.Va. Funeral services will be performed at 3:30 pm Tuesday, August 24, 2010 by his Pastor and dear friend, Jeff Sizemore. Also speaking will be his dear friend, Pastor Joey Ferguson, his son, Christopher Evans and Pastor Nathaniel Wall who was like his second son. Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.

Dear Charlene, Christopher and family, I am so sorry. I know your heart is broken even though you know what a wonderful homecoming Rick is having! I hope precious memories help sustain you. Anyone who speaks of him, only has good things to say and held him in the highest regard. You knew immediately how much he loved his family and his Lord. What a wonderful testimony to his life. Love you all

We wish to send our condolences. We were very shocked to hear about the tragic accident when we called to speak to him today about our car. We are very saddened and wish only the family the best. We will keep you all in our prayers and thoughts. He was a well liked and very nice person, and his love of God showed. Peace I pray the father sends from above. Rick and Charlene was my next door neighbors around the time of 1990, my oldest child was 2 years old at the time (little red head, Tiffany)and they always was very good to us, Tiffany would stand at the fence so she could talk to Christopher. I thank God to have had such good neighbors. Love and Prayers, Charlena Ramey

Although we didn't know Rick well, we feel that he was a great person. He worked on our vehicles for us several times and no matter when or where we saw him, he was always so nice and friendly. We could most definitely see that Rick was a great man who lived for the Lord. Our thoughts and prayers are with Charlene and the rest of the family.

Dear Sweet Charlene! Words cannot express how so very heartbroken I am for you right now. One can never imagine or never begin to guess what we will go through. I never met Rick but just from knowing you I know that he was pure joy for all those that knew him. I saw in you the blessing of love and contentment that God had given Rick and he shared with you. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. In so many situations like this - having never been through it, I can only say do the best you can. We love you so and mourn your loss.
