In the early hours of Sunday, August 23rd, 2020, Charles Thomas "Tom" Coley quietly left the confines of his earthly body to arrive at his eagerly awaited home in Heaven. Tom, 75, was born on November 1st, 1944, to William Frank and Minnie (Stayeton) Coley, who preceded him in death. He joins his beloved Peggy, who moved to Heaven in July 2019. They were married 55 years and life here was never the same for him after she left us. We are comforted in knowing they are together again. Tom leaves behind 2 sons: Steve (Tomi Lynn) Coley of Lesage, WV and Frank (Evelyn) Coley of Buda, TX; 4 Granddaughters: Samantha Coley, Danielle (Ricky) Nguyen, Jessyca Coley and Nikole Coley; 1 Great Grandson Vincent Nguyen; special niece Zoie Fulton. Also surviving him are his sisters Sue Spradling and Pat Hatfield, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and family including Kathy Coley and Janice Singleton. In addition to Tom's parents and wife, previously deceased are numerous relatives, including sister Nancy Stull and nephew Brian Denning. We would like to thank the staff of Abbyshire Place, including Nurses Devan and Wendy. We also wish to thank our Church family at River Cities Community Church for the calls, cards and prayers. Due to the current restrictions in place, we will have a Military memorial service at a later date. Tom was first a Christian. He was then a Husband, Dad and Pepaw. He loved God and made sure everyone knew it. He loved to talk and sing; he was honored to graduate to become a minister. He worked in credit and finance for most years of his life after his tour with the United States Marine Corps. He retired from American Express in Plantation, FL. He always had time to share the gospel and loved his plants and being outside when he was able. He loved his family fiercely and always told us, "There is nothing you could ever, ever do to cause me to stop loving you!" Same here, Pepaw. We miss you and love you and will see you and Memaw again soon.
Pepaw Who……… A Poem by Jessyca Coley, 3/22/2011
Pepaw who loves his wife like roses love sun
And loves us all equally the same
Who is a tree and rock
Who is a teddy bear
Whose hair is like a baby’s
Is too sick to travel this year
Who is a cautious, wizened cat
Who calls me his peanut butter ball
Whose eyes are eagle’s
But voice is like a lion’s
Whose snores are a record
The same with every nap
Whose wife is a wise cat
But is also a mother hen
Whose strength is like a tree
Who loves us all
Loves us all the same
