1934 - 2023
 William Baylous Adkins, 89, of Wayne, WV, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, by Bishop Bryan Mathews. He was born January 20, 1934, in Huntington, a son of the late Audra and Sadie Ball Adkins. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. having served in the Korean War. He was preceded in death by one son, William Baylous Adkins II. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruth (Dorton) Adkins; one daughter, Sheila Ryder (Duane) of Ona; daughter-in-law, Teressa Adkins of Kenova; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Smith (Jason), Robin Adkins, Duane Ryder III (Kristin), James Ryder (Kelly), Rhonda Shoemaker (Christopher), Jessica Hatfield (Travis) and Mary Dailey (Tyler); and 10 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the VA Medical Center and Hospice of Huntington for their great care. I’m so sad to hear of Bill’s passing. Sending my sincere condolences to his family. Bill and I are first cousins. His mom and my mom, Emma, Jean Ball were sisters. I remember visiting aunt Sadie and uncle Audrey when we were kids. Bill was always a lot of fun. I have pictures of Bill and his brothers from the 1950s.
