Roger Lewis Thornton, 75, of Milton, W.Va., passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. He was born June 8, 1948 in Milton, W.Va., a son of the late, Jimmy J. Thornton and Naomi Stowasser Thornton. He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy Thornton and David Thornton and by one sister, Gertie Thornton. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam and retired from UPS. He is survived by two daughters, Teresa Stewart (Ron) and Vicki Hayes (David); one son, David Burton; four sisters, Virgie Connors (John), Linda Scarberry (David), Loretta Edmonds and Mary Childers (John); four brothers, Bill Thornton (Norma), Connie Thornton, Don Thornton (Beverly) and James Thornton; three grandchildren, Christy Stewart, Kyle Stewart and Hannah Hayes and two great grandchildren, Luna Dalgo and Rayne Carter. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton with Pastor Tracy Call officiating. Burial will follow in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Milton.
