Debra Dawn RayDebra Dawn Raines Ray, 71, passed June 19, 2024 at St. Mary’s Medical Center with her husband Justin L. Ray by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents Genevieve Thomas Raines and William E. Raines. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Justin L. Ray, as well as her daughters Jessica and Amanda. Debra was proud of her girls following in her footsteps as Registered Nurses. Hannah, Alexander, Phoenix and Sierra were her adored grandchildren. She was planning a trip to visit and meet her great-grandson Connor. Debra leaves behind her sibling William E. Raines II. She was a proud graduate of Barboursville High School, Class of 1970. She continued her education earning her RN degree and later earning her BSN. She enjoyed her career that spanned over 35 years from Texas to Alaska then back again to West Virginia where she retired from St. Mary’s Hospital. The series “The Chosen” was of great importance to her. This series brought great peace and comfort learning and watching Jesus’ life from birth, crucifixion to resurrection. She was an active member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Barboursville. There she made new friends and family that brought her great joy and friendship. Services will be Monday, June 24, 2024 at Fellowship Baptist Church, Barboursville. Doors open at 3 p.m. with services starting at 4 p.m. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, is assisting the family. Justin, I'm so sorry to hear about Debra. It's been a long time since we worked together at Darnall and I have such fond memories of you, Debra, and your girls. I really enjoyed knowing Debra, she was such a sweet lady. May God wrap you in his loving arms now and in the days ahead.

My condolences to all who loved Debra, I know she loved you too, her nieces, nephews, and cousins. She loved her time spent in Moorefield, especially at the Thomas reunion. She will be missed by so many.
