Elizabeth “Libby” Hodge Burdette of Barboursville peacefully gained her angel wings on January 2nd at The Village at Riverview Senior Living. Born in Charleston on January 8, 1931, she was the daughter of Frank and Maycel Hodge. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Allen, and siblings Marilyn Smith and Larry Hodge. She is survived by her sister, Marcie Hodge, of Charleston. Libby was a proud 1948 graduate of DuPont High School. She also graduated from cosmetology school, and owned and operated a private school for preschoolers. Her favorite job was taking care of her home and her family. Libby and Allen welcomed three children: Allen (Johnda) Burdette of Johnson City, TN; Kathy (Bill) Weekly of Barboursville; and Nancy (Bill) White of Midlothian, VA. She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Libby and Allen attended Steel Memorial Methodist Church and volunteered at the Jeffrey George (Comfort) Hospitality House. They were recipients of the Distinguished West Virginians and the 35th Star Award for making significant contributions to their community. Family and friends will gather at noon on January 11, 2025 at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens at Cross Lanes (mausoleum at entrance) to celebrate her love and life.
